Mets

A handy measure of exercise usually used in aerobics equivalent to the amount of energy used by a person's basal metabolic rate or resting metabolic rate[1]. So if one is twice as active as when resting they used 2 Mets. In light of HIIT and EPOC Mets should ideally be calculated by the time spent at different percentages of VO2 Max. However to judge by the linear relationship of Mets at increasing exercise intensity in what is being provided to the public [2] this isn't happening.
