Intensity is a common measurement of effort expenditure; because of this, it is easy to conclude that intensity is subjective, or different for each person. Intensity is increased with increased effort. It can be measured in terms of power output, where the same work done in less time is more power and more intensity. According to Greg Glassman, founder of CrossFit, "the independent variable most commonly associated with the rate of return on favorable adaptation." [1]
