Cholesterol is a fatty substance (lipid) found in the blood, body tissues and in animal products (especially the brain, nervous system, liver, and blood). It is essential for the body in the production of hormones, Vitamin D, and bile. Dietary cholesterol raises blood cholesterol—its accumulation in the arteries leads to atherosclerosis—but the effect is less pronounced than that of saturated fat. [1]

Contrary to popular belief, eggs are not bad for your cholesterol levels.
