The Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) program was created in 1985 by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. It was meant to identify individuals with the knowledge and skills to design and implement safe and effective strength and conditioning programs for athletes in a team setting. The CSCS is regarded by some as being the most notable fitness certification.
