We all know the importance of proper diet in life of an athlete. An athlete needs proper amount of all the essential nutrients in his/her diet. His/her diet should meet daily requirement of vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates, healthy fats etc. Juicing is a great way to meet these requirements. From juices body can absorb the nutrients better and gives your digestive system a rest from working on fiber.
But do you guys know that amount of nutrients getting into juice can vary from juicer to juicer. Yup this is correct. Every juicer is not same. Some juicers make more nutrient rich juices than other. There are basically three categories of juicers.
- Centrifugal juicers
- Masticating Juicers
- Twin gear juicers
Centrifugal juicers are fast juicers. They have cutting blades that rotates fast. Centrifugal action of these blades extracts juice. But these fast rotating blades build up heat and destroy some of the essential enzymes in juices. It may lead to oxidation also. A centrifugal juicer can certainly give you a glass of juice in mere seconds but the juice quality is not as good as a masticating juicer or twin gear juicer. Masticating juicers and Twin gear juicers are slow juicers. They work on principle of mastication. Instead of cutting they chew produce using high pressure. This high pressure results into breaking of cell walls of and release juices. This juice is rich in nutrients and pigments. No heat buildup occurs. A twin gear juicers is same as masticating juicer but with one difference. It has two gears. These two gears results into higher yield.
